When I arrive at a wedding one of the first things I photograph are the details! Details are so important and it isn’t just the “invitation suite” or the “bouquet”; those are parts of your wedding day that you probably invested a lot in, am I right? Everything from the bride’s bouquet, to her shoes, dress, veil, jewelry, bride & groom’s rings, any family heirlooms and of course the invitation suite! Once I have all of these precious parts, I start moving them around and styling them to create the perfect detailed photograph.
In my opinion the invitation suite tells a story. The formal invitation shares little details about the couples favorite things; maybe their favorite colors, or favorite florals or even just making it personal with their first, middle, & last name. Styling invitations are so fun and some beautiful photographs can be made from using the details I mentioned above. It all comes together and creates a gorgeous photograph.
Recently, I partnered up with Basic Invite and got to create my own wedding invitation suite! I had so much fun! Basic Invite allows you to make it your own. You start by picking out a template that reflects your wedding colors and then you make it yours! When I was choosing my invitation suite I was craving for a floral design with a lavender touch and I found the perfect one called, Succulent Wreath. Yes, the trend now is a lot of greenery and succulents so that also caught my eye when I was browsing through the hundreds of designs.
Basic Invite provides many elements for your wedding suite. From the invitation to the accommodation cards they go above and beyond! The outer envelopes can also be personalized with a monogram on the inner flap or a design of your choice! I chose the monogram because it was simple and still personalized.
So once you’ve created your invitation suite, Basic Invite goes behind the scenes and creates a proof for you to review before they print, super helpful! Not only do they create a proof but they allow you to order a sample of your suite. You create everything and then order a sample suite so you can see them in person to make sure they are what you want! How many times have you thought something was one color online and then when it arrived at your doorstep it was totally different? Yeah, it happens a lot and your wedding invitations are the last oops you want! They are the first impression that your guests see so you definitely want to make sure they are perfect! Once you see your sample, you can go back on the website and either proceed and order all your invitations or you can make a change! Sample suites are very inexpensive as well, so don’t let that stop you from ordering one.
One fun thing I love about Basic Invite is that they have wedding websites that correlate to your invitation suite! Many of the invitation suites have recommendations as to which wedding website would either identically match your invitation or correlate really well. Then once you choose you website template, you again can fill it in with your wedding day details, a little story of how you met, and some photographs from your past adventures!
As a photographer I encourage you to take the time to create a beautiful invitation suite and with a company like Basic Invite you can! I hope these little tips and insights really spoke to you!
