I serve women owned small businesses here at Madalyn Yates Creative. Together we create a strategic plan to bring heart & soul to your brand through storytelling photos & beyond.

When I’m not behind the camera, you can find me hanging out in my office, sipping on a latte at local coffee shops, baking something delicious & traveling the world.

I'M MADALYN!

When the first thing you learn about a couple is that their first date included beer and tacos, you know the rest of their story will be awesome…

Marion & Ethan reached out to me about two months ago in order to book and plan their summertime engagement session! Marion had mentioned I photographed her sister & brother in laws wedding & engagement session three years ago and she said she really loved their photos and how I captured their emotion! So of course, I immediately said I would love to photograph this season in Marion’s life as well!

Fast forward to our consult (actually the day after she had inquired! We do things quick & efficient here!). I met Marion & Ethan at a local coffee shop here in Greensboro – my consults most likely always include coffee! When they arrived, we all exchanged hugs and sat down to chat all the details out! After asking them their vision for their wedding, the location of the ceremony aka the most gorgeous view in all of VA; Ethan & I immediately realized that we had both gone to the SAME summer camp and that is where they are getting married next year!!!! When Marion first inquired she said their wedding was going to be in Troutdale, VA. Yep, the middle of nowhere in my opinion but there is actually a really special place nestled in the mountain tops called Wilderness Trail and that is where I went to summer camp during middle & high school! Say what?? Anyways after we chatted about all our years there, we decided it would be best to talk about their engagement session! After all, that’s why we were there!

Being that Marion & Ethan are very adventurous, outdoorsy people we decided to kick off their engagement session at Pilot Mountain! We couldn’t of asked for a better day – the weather was perfect, it wasn’t too crowded & it was just what we all imagined! Marion & Ethan are such naturals and they really were so fun to photograph!

After about 45 minutes at Pilot, we decided to head down to Bailey Park in Downtown Winston Salem for Part 2 of their engagement session! We went to the park area, made use of the old power plant (yes, it was amazing!) and then ended up at a local brewery to enjoy a nice cold beverage! It was an amazing day & I can’t wait for their special day next year!
