I serve women owned small businesses here at Madalyn Yates Creative. Together we create a strategic plan to bring heart & soul to your brand through storytelling photos & beyond.

When I’m not behind the camera, you can find me hanging out in my office, sipping on a latte at local coffee shops, baking something delicious & traveling the world.

I'M MADALYN!

Well, well, well! It’s about time that I write another blog post, don’t you agree? And it only makes sense that the first one of the new year (Happy 2023, friends!) is all about traveling!

If you’ve been around, you know I’m a huge fan of traveling but what you might not know is that I love to travel especially when it’s work that is bringing me there! Ashley from 216 Virginia Ave – Guest Stay reached out to me this past Fall to start planning a winter travel to photograph what it’s like in the winter in the quaint town of Clarksville, VA.

Being that I had been there before (check out that trip, here!) , I was itching to go back and see what it is like during the January to March time of year and well, as you can imagine it was different! A tad bit cooler, a little less green but just as peaceful as it was in the summertime. Something else that made this time unique is that I was also working with The Corner at Two One Six; a quaint store right below the Airbnb that offers local artist a place to showcase and sell their beautiful work!

At the end of 2022, Virginia Tourism granted both 216 Virginia Ave and The Corner at Two One Six a wonderful grant as a token of appreciation and to help with marketing content for 2023 so I was honored when they both reached out to see if I’d love to help them with it.

For the airbnb, I created some lived-in moments to show the future guests how they can use the space! I considered the space being a great spot for a work-cation, aka one of the best things out their for a women who works for herself! Though, if you’re not up for working, the living room area is great for cozying up with your favorite cup of tea and a book!

Once I finished up with the Airbnb lifestyle content, I began photographing the Corner at Two One Six! They had never had professional images taken so I wanted to make sure to get the a variety of interiors, exteriors and some fun headshots of the employees! Carol and her partners were so fun to be around and it totally shows in the photos! The space is so colorful – be sure to pop in if you’re ever in the area!

One of the other really cool concepts for this winter travel to 216 Virginia Ave is that we ventured on over to one other local hotspot, Woodbine Vineyards! If you hop in your car and drive 13 minutes up the road, you’ll find yourself at the most beautiful vineyard in town! Owned by Reggie Young and his wife, Jenny, Woodbine Vineyards is a must have for a Clarksville trip! They’ve done a fabulous job renovating an old horse barn by turning each stall into a cozy nook for guests to sit down with friends and sip on their local wines! It’s quite magical; check out this sunset too!

As always, such a pleasure to take time away and travel to new & familiar places! If you like this blog post, be sure to share it with a friend! And if you’re an Airbnb that is looking for something like this, I’d love to talk more with you and tell you how much I’d love to feature your abode too! See you soon, Clarksville!
