When I’m not behind the camera, you can find me hanging out in my office, sipping on a latte at local coffee shops, baking something delicious & traveling the world.

I'M MADALYN!

Today, I want to share with you five tips to prepare for your own branding session. As a photographer, I’ve learned the best practices for a variety of creative industries. Practices on how to show up authentically and how to walk away confident in what you just accomplished for your blooming brand.

Each of these practices are easy, practical actions that you can implement right away!

Let’s get to learning! Oh! If you want to talk more about these, I’d love too!

Define the end goal that you’re aiming for these photos to provide you.

There are many reasons why you should want to invest in a branding session but one of the most common is that there is a end goal. A goal for you to achieve and by having on brand photos will help you succeed. Think about these questions while you determine your goal.

“Am I wanting to develop a deeper relationship with my audiences?”

“Am I launching a new product or service that I need marketing content for?”

“Do I need a boost of confidence? Do I need someone to speak life into my business?”

Find the perfect outfit or two that reflect your personality!

One of the more exciting yet stressful parts of preparing for your branding session is building your outfits! Depending on who you’re working with and what your session includes having two outfits is a great formula to get versatile + long lasting content.

You might wonder, “do I have to wear my branding colors in my branding photos?” My answer is you can but you don’t have too! If you’re wanting to choose powerful colors that is a great opportunity for you to pick one of your colors from your brand palette.

I also suggest finding clothing that you feel comfortable in. Clothes that make you feel good. There is nothing worse than wearing outfits that you don’t feel good in … even if they make you look more “professional.” After all, you want to appear authentic in these photos so pick pieces that you actually wear or would wear in the future!

Study the space you’re having your session at.

For your branding photo session it’s likely that you’ll rent an AirBnB or a space that you’re not familiar with. You’ve picked it because you love the opportunities that it provides for you or your photographer hand chose it. Either way, looking at the listing or photos that have been taken there will help you know where you want to have your photos staged. By knowing the space, this can also help you with your outfits + prop collection!

Have in mind a few photos that you know you want.

This will come together when you have the end goal in mind. A branding session can and will be wildly successful if you trust your photographer but also have a few must-have photos in mind. Get a variety of headshots, behind the scenes, on brand stock imagery. Depending on the length of your session, you can plan it minute by minute so you can walk away confidently + ready to conquer!

As a photographer, there are so many more photos you can have taken of you aside from you holding your camera! There are so much pieces of your brand that you can showcase both business and personal touches. Remove your camera and laptop and capture some fun + engaging photos of YOU!

Walk into your session EXCITED!

You get out what you put in! That goes for planning AND your energy! This time is for you. For you to show up for your business and for yourself.
