To kick off 2021, I hosted my 2nd round of Branding Minis at a wonderful venue called, The Graham Mill! If you’ve visited the blog before, you’ve probably seen a few sessions there and that’s because it’s so versatile! For this round of mini sessions, I had the pleasure of photographing a variety of creatives including:
Tierney Riggs Photography – a wedding and portrait photographer based in Raleigh, NC! Tierney is a true southern belle and she has an incredible eye for weddings & capturing love!
Amanda K Events – Amanda and her husband are both in the wedding industry but Amanda owns a wedding & event planning company based in Greensboro, NC! I’ve worked alongside her for a wedding and I also know her from a local group of business owners!
The Beauty Tribe – These gals are literally the best of the best! If you’re looking for hair & make-up, Grace & Tori are your girls! They are well known in the wedding industry but are down for anything!
Taylor Gray Photography – Taylor is also a wedding & portrait photographer! I’ve had the pleasure to shoot alongside her as well as for her as her second shooter!
Ashely Blaylock Beauty – Ashely is a hairstylist & instructor based in Asheboro, NC! She’s a hair wizard & loves her job!
Wedding & Events by Vivian – Another talented wedding planner based in Greensboro, NC! I’ve heard nothing but magical reviews from her clients!
And I also had the pleasure to take some portraits for a friend & past bride, Kerrie Engle – she was named one of the 40 Leaders under 40 in Triad Business Journal! So cool!
After a lovely, January and start to the New Year, come February where I worked with three brands! Each of them is so different and so full of color and personality!
Happy Tines Design Co – Caitlin is a super talented hand-letter and graphic designer and she had never had branding photos done! She chose to do her session at her home to show the behind-the-scenes of her everyday life as a business owner!
Bloom Salon – This one is a fun story! Bloom Salon is owned by my friend Madison! She was also my hairstylist before she opened her salon so when she told me she was doing it, I couldn’t help but be excited for her!
Lindsey Weber Photography – Lindsey and I met through our web designer, Ida with Hygge Design Co! You’ll see her later on in the bog post! Lindsey is based in Charleston SC and is a fabulous portrait photographer!
This month was a busy one! Not only did I host another round of Branding Minis, but I also photographed three brands all throughout the Triad and Triangle including my very own web designer! If you’re curious what Branding Mini’s are, be sure to check out this blog post – I’ll be announcing another round at the end of January!
Career Maven Coaching – Tiffany is a phenomenal businesswoman & I’m not just saying that because of her shirt! She’s fierce when it comes to coaching others on what to do in their businesses! She’s not afraid to stand out and be bold!
Wonderland Book Shop – Are you a fan of supporting small businesses while also submerging yourself in a sea of books? Then you need to check out this sister-owned bookstore here in Greensboro, NC!
Hygge Design Co – Ida is a wonderful friend of mine but also my oh-so-talented web designer! We connected a few years back and I thank God for her every day! She helped me swap from wedding photographer to branding photographer and because of her encouragement and talent, it was so seamless!
Lucy Miller Photography – Ever look at family photos or photos of a precious newborn and wonder how they got the perfect photo? Well, Lucy is such a talented photographer who always delivers the most beautiful family & lifestyle photos!
102 North Salon – Another magical duo, Teighla & Shelley! We took these photos before they opened their salon in Elon, NC and we had so much fun! I can’t wait till I get to go to the salon!
Dogwood Gatherings – If you’re planning a wedding and you need some fabulous planners, I got you! I have so many connections including the one I have with this awesome team! The serve Raleigh and Charleston couples looking for wedding coordination!
Ivy & Linen Design – Brenna is a stunning stationery designer who has an eye for detail! She attended these mini sessions so she could get some new photos of her, yes but also to have imagery that matched her evolving brand!
When April rolled around, I had a smaller amount of branding sessions because I was wrapping up my final wedding season! Just because it was small, the sessions I did capture were mighty!
Carly B Realty – When Carly reached out to me she was fresh in the business owner world! She is a real estate agent here in Greensboro, NC, and needed some content so she could launch her website and continue using it for all social media platforms!
FitbyHan – This session was so FUN! Hannah is a health and fitness coach whose mission is to help millennial women ditch fad diets to finally find balance AND build a body they love! We met a while back and so glad she reached out!
I continued with the last few weddings but had two amazing branding sessions as well! I also had another shoot with Salon Bloom featured above!
Driven Inc – A business coach who needed new imagery! I went to her home, her office and then we did some around town too!
Olive & Wit – I was so excited when Leah reached out to do a branding session! We have a mutual friend, Sarah with Local Type so it was fun to connect! She’s a content marketing guru and has so fun doing it!
The month of June was a big one! I was approached by the marketing coordinator of O.Henry Magazine!! They were looking for a photographer to help capture their July business features and well, they chose me! I went to 6 different small businesses and did a session to get a photo for the magazine! The coolest part of it all is they asked me to shoot the cover of the next issue – I was beyond flattered! It was such a wonderful experience!
Alright, halfway through the year that felt like it flew by! Props to you if you’ve made it this far in reading my 2021 Year in Review! Despite the warmer temperatures in July, I had the pleasure of working with some unique brands!
Ampersandbox Business Coaching – Sarah offers coaching and consulting to support inspirational leaders using the power of choice to ignite change within themselves! She is such a kind-hearted individual and teaches you the importance of AND!
Flywheel Letterpress & Stationery Designer – This one was super fun! Kenzi is a letterpress artist who offers wedding stationery as well as an assortment of other paper goods! She has a cute studio in High Point, NC, and wanted to get some photos of her working and around the studio!
Harmony Wedding & Events – Wedding planning can be stressful, but not with these lovely ladies!!!! I had the honor to photograph the entire Harmony team at The Graham Mill this past summer! We had a blast, can’t you tell?
I’m going to use this entire month to share about my time with Kenzi Green Design, are you cool with that? Great! Kenzi is a uber-talented web designer and branding educator! She builds incredible and unique websites from scratch all while bringing her audience along in the process! Aside from her web design talent, she also has a love for fine art and design – for her session, we chose multiple locations to best showcase her personality and brand. My most favorite month of the year! It’s my birthday month! Who else has a September birthday? To make it even better, I got to work with another web designer and a chiropractor office; two totally different industries!
Adapt Chiropractic Office – So, you probably have noticed a theme when it comes to the type of businesses I photograph but this one was a new one! Adapt Chiropractic is run by a sweet family and was referred to me by a past client of mine! They just recently opened up their practice so being the first photographer to help them with their branding was so special!
2 Dogs & A Laptop – such a fun name for a brand, yeah? Sarah is a fantastic web designer who adores her two pups so of course, she had to include them in her branding session! Sarah is one of my content creation clients so I am excited to see what she has in mind for her next shoot!
Phew! October was a big one! Like most photographers, it’s peak wedding month so I had weddings but also another round of Branding Minis and a few other branding sessions!
BrewMaster Mobile – who doesn’t love a bar on wheels! Molly and Emily were so fun to photograph!
Billie Jo Kitchen – Billie is a lovely food blogger in the Raleigh area! She loves being in the kitchen and sharing recipes so much that she built a brand around it! Everything she makes looks delicious!
Pris Beauty – Not only did I get to photograph Priscilla but she also did hair & make-up touch-ups for my branding mini clients! It’s so fun to have someone on-site to make sure everyone is feeling their best and ready for their closeups!
MB Creative – Mollie runs a wonderful boutique creative studio in Winston Salem, NC! She helps small business owners craft impact through storytelling and purposeful branding – so essential as a business owner!
Reg & Kala Photography – Name a better wedding & portrait photographer duo, I’ll wait! Reg & Kala are a husband and wife photography team and they know how to have fun! They hadn’t had many photos together, so we changed that during their branding mini session!
Sarah Hinckley Photography – Photographing photographers is always a breeze! Sarah is a wedding photographer who loves chick-fil-a, a good planner, and sweet love stories!
Chandler & Schiffman – Does the word law office intimidate you? If so, rest assured, I know a super fun office for you to use if you’re ever in need of one! Had so much fun capturing their client experience!
Almost to the end! I decided to share a few photos from all my sessions with Kara Cox Interiors! I met Kara through Rachel Rodgers, another previous client of mine! Kara is an incredible interior designer here in Greensboro and runs an incredible firm with 3 other talented women! Our most recent shoot was at her own home – she recently completed renovations to her living area, dining area, and a new bar! Talk about a fun shoot with lots of special details to photograph!
Last but very not least, December!! The year was coming to a close but I had a marvelous time photographing Chelsea Cook Photography, a boudoir & wedding photographer based in Burlington, NC! Chelsea has actually been to two rounds of branding minis and for this shoot, we went all in and made sure to capture her behind the scenes and the whole boudoir experience! To finish up the year, I shot for Claude & Coy Interior Design; another boutique interior design firm owned by two friends, Beth & Morgan! We’re shooting again next month & I can’t wait!
That’s a WRAP! It’s been such an amazing year for Madalyn Yates Photography and I am so so grateful for each of my clients! I can’t wait to see where 2022 takes us; I pray it brings joy & love to each and every one of your brands!
